Revenue
Marketplace
A member-to-member listing floor for buying, selling, requesting, and giving away the stuff only this room would care about.
Why it exists
Community commerce without turning every thread into a yard sale.
Marketplace is the member-to-member commerce layer inside a Factory. Members can post listings for sale, wanted requests, or free items, then browse by type, category, search, seller, price, and recency.
It is intentionally separate from Rewards and owner products. Rewards are owner-created perks tied to points. Products are owner-run revenue. Marketplace is the structured lane for community exchange: used gear, commissions, tickets, supplies, services, collectibles, templates, project help, and the spare part someone absolutely has in a drawer.
For owners, Marketplace makes the Factory more useful without letting commerce hijack the discussion channels. Members get a practical exchange floor, sellers get context, and the community gets one more reason to stay inside the room.
Blueprints
Marketplace list view keeps filters, categories, search, sorting, prices, seller context, listing images, and member-owned posts in one practical place.
-
Listing Types: For sale, wanted, and free listings give the room the three lanes most community commerce needs.
-
Category Fit: Owner-managed categories keep the marketplace aligned with the Factory instead of becoming the internet junk drawer.
-
Search and Sort: Members can search titles, descriptions, and sellers, then sort by recency or price.
-
Member Context: Seller names, avatars, and member-owned listing views keep transactions attached to real people in the room.
Listing details give the item, images, price, category, description, seller, contact path, and owner controls enough structure to keep deals out of chat sludge.
-
Real Detail: Images, price, type, category, date, and description make each listing easier to evaluate.
-
Seller Profile: Seller names and avatars keep the transaction tied to a member with Factory context.
-
Contact Flow: Logged-in members can send a note to the seller from the listing instead of derailing a channel.
-
Listing Control: Sellers can edit, delete, or mark a listing sold when the deal is done.
Community fit
Why different Factory owners should care.
- Self-Help: Members can trade books, worksheets, accountability templates, coaching slots, donated supplies, and practical resources without turning vulnerable discussion into a sales pitch.
- Fan Club: Collectibles, tickets, fan art, merch swaps, signed goods, and creator-adjacent offers can live inside the fan community instead of disappearing into comment chaos.
- Influencers and Celebrities: Creator merch, resale tickets, signed items, styling slots, fan art, VIP extras, and community services get a cleaner lane than "DM me" under every post.
- Hobby or Maker: Tools, supplies, finished goods, kits, commissions, patterns, spare parts, repairs, and project help are already part of the room. Give them shelves.
- Education and Coaching: Study guides, templates, tutoring slots, used books, office-hour seats, resource bundles, and implementation help can move between members without clogging lessons.
- Professional Networks and Entrepreneurs: Services, templates, audits, referrals, job leads, consulting slots, project help, and partner requests become structured listings instead of networking theater with invoices.
- Gaming (digital or physical): Minis, cards, terrain, books, tournament tickets, coaching offers, deck services, league extras, and campaign supplies need a better place than chat archaeology.
- Wellness or Fitness: Gear swaps, coaching slots, challenge supplies, meal-prep templates, class spots, and community-approved resources can stay organized without pretending every dumbbell needs its own thread.
- Local Community: Local services, event tickets, neighborhood swaps, vendor offers, meetup supplies, and "does anyone have a folding table" requests finally get one obvious place.
- Cause or Nonprofit: Donated goods, volunteer needs, event supplies, pro bono services, campaign materials, and member offers can stay tied to the mission instead of scattered across old announcements.
- Book or Media Club: Used books, zines, collectibles, watch-party tickets, fan art, recommendation bundles, and themed swaps can become part of the club instead of a side hustle in the hallway.
